Many Gilchrist Hospice Care volunteers and staff have been very busy knitting dolls to be given to children in Tanzania. Here is a picture of what 50 of these dolls look like in a "shrink bag." We are each taking a similar bag, along with other items(small soaps, lotions, pencils, knitted caps, etc.) that we have gathered that might be helpful to our new friends.
As I look at these "shrunken dolls" I think of how they will "come to life" when we open the bags once we arrive and the dolls are filled with air. But I think they will truly "come to life" when they are in the hands of a child that will treasure this handmade gift for many years to come.
Many thanks to all our GHC knitters! Marilyn
Can't wait to see pictures of unshrunken dolls with their new owners!!

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you and your group are having an amazing (if heart wrenching) trip. Can't wait to see the pictures and hear all of the stories when you return!
